Ex Vivo Study Ex vivo imaging was performed by using a bovine colon obtained from a slaughterhouse, with the bowel collected from one cow per experiment. Three animals were used to provide bowel samples, with the first two used for technical development and the third providing the bovine bowel segments used to generate the data presented herein. After removal, the colon was immediately washed and flushed with tap water followed by saline until all feculent material was removed.
